Four-Star Receiver Reggie Fleurima Feeling Good About Iowa Football

Reggie Fleurima picked up an Iowa scholarship in early January. His social media post announcing the news included what seemed like a random picture of former Hawkeye receiver Kevin Kasper.

It turns out the photo of Kasper made a lot of sense.

“It meant a lot to get the Iowa offer,” Fleurima said. “One of my best friend’s dad played at Iowa, and he always praised the Iowa program to me.”

That would be Kasper. His son, Kyler Kasper, is pals with Fleurima.

Kyler and Fleurima developed a friendship when the Kaspers lived in Illinois. They’ve since moved to Arizona.

Fleurima (6-3, 200) will be entering his junior year at Naperville (IL) Central High this fall. Rivals and 247 see him as a four-star prospect with the latter tabbing him as the No. 25 receiver nationally in the 2022 class and the No. 199 player regardless of position.

“I’d say my game is really physical. I like to bully DB’s and use my strength to my advantage,” he said.

Iowa played host to Fleurima for an unofficial visit at the end of January. He and his parents saw what the Hawkeyes were about.

“I’ve learned that Iowa is a hard-nose, blue-collar football program that has a history of being a tough program to beat, especially at Kinnick Stadium,” he said.

Assistant Seth Wallace is leading the Hawkeyes’ pursuit of Fleurima.

“I’ve talked to coach Wallace the most, and we have a good relationship,” he said.

The Iowa receivers are trending up in regards to contributions to the offense. Fleurima notices.

“Iowa has definitely improved the productivity of their wideouts with the addition of (position) coach (Kelton) Copeland coming in and changing things around,” he said.

Fleurima plans on majoring in business. He’s looking to decide on his college sometime next spring or summer.

“I think it’ll naturally come to me when I find the right school that is the best fit for me,” he said.

While he’s still early in the process, Iowa is impressing him.

Fleurima also reports scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon State, Purdue, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. He’s receiving interest from Northwestern, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and others.

His father, Reggie Fleurima, played on Lou Holtz’s defensive line at Notre Dame in the early ’90s.
