Iowa is 0-10 vs the Top 25 this year, as well as 1-6 on the road.
Purdue hasn’t lost to team 75+ in the Pomeroy Ratings and is 11-1 at home.

The Boilermakers just do so many things well.  They are fundamentally sound on both ends of the court – they play pressure defense on one end and take great care of the ball on the other end.  Purdue will be in Iowa’s jerseys all game long and the Hawkeyes will not be allowed any breathing room on offense.

Don’t expect Purdue to do much from the outside, that’s not their game.  Instead they’ll use Moore to create, let Hummel hit the 15 foot jumpers (among others), and allow JuJuan Johnson score in a variety of different ways.  Purdue is a hard team to defend, packing it in doesn’t seem to work and there’s little chance Iowa will go to a  zone.  With that in mind, it’s going to be a gut check for the Iowa Hawkeyes in this game.  The Hawks are going to need to man-up to that ferocious D of Purdue and attack it when possible.

Expect Kramer’s sole responsibility to be all over Matt Gatens.  He neutralized Matt last time out, we should expect the same type of attention this time around, as well.  If that’s the case, there will be some big opportunities for guys like Eric May, Cully Payne, and Aaron Fuller to step up.

Iowa needs to limit turnovers, avoid scoring droughts, and play composed basketball.  That’s a lot to ask for from one of the nation’s youngest teams on the road against a Top 10 team.

PREDICTION:  Iowa 53, Purdue 68
