Labas visited Iowa City and the campus two weekends ago after picking up a scholarship offer. He could not meet with anyone from Iowa because it’s a recruiting dead period, but he saw enough that convinced him it was the right place.
Ball State received a verbal commitment from Labas (6-3, 190) on May 12. The Hawkeyes offered eight days later, his first Power 5 opportunity. He de-committed from Ball State on June 3.
Iowa moves to 16 known verbal pledges in the 2021 recruiting class. Labas is the only quarterback.
The 247 network views him as a three-star prospect and the No. 38 pro-style signal caller in the cycle. Rivals sees him as a two star.
As a junior, Labas completed 174 of passes for 2,355 yards and 23 touchdowns against two interceptions. He rushed 69 times for 486 yards and nine scores.
