Iowa added a second graduate transfer defensive lineman from Northern Illinois this offseason on Monday. Green Bay (WI) Bay Port High product Matt Lorbeck, an end, announced his intentions to walk on the Hawkeye team.

Lorbeck (6-4, 255) joined former Husky defensive tackle Jack Heflin in transferring to Iowa. The Hawkeyes have lost seven starters from their front following the last two seasons.
Lorbeck totaled 12 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks the last two years. He also forced four fumbles.
Lorbeck played as a true freshman in 2017, so he still has a redshirt year available to him. That left open the possibility of him playing in four or fewer games during ’20 as a walk-on and then potentially earning a scholarship for ’21.
Iowa redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Jack Plumb was a high school teammate of Lorbeck’s. Iowa assistant Tim Polasek, a Wisconsin native, has recruited that state for the program.
