Steve Angeli

Iowa offered '22 NJ QB Steve Angeli on Jan. 27, 2021.

Iowa extended its third known offer to a Class of 2022 quarterback on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes reached out to the East Coast for their latest target.

Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic four-star signal caller Steve Angeli added Iowa to his growing list of opportunities. Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, LSU, Miami (FL), Oregon and others have been vying for his services.

It's rare that the Hawkeyes offer a quarterback coach Ken O'Keefe hasn't seen throw in person, but Angeli's talent pops off of the film.

"Coach O’Keefe just told me that my size, athleticism, arm talent, and football IQ fit what they're looking for in a QB at Iowa," Angeli told HN.
When HN reached out to Angeli last month, he said he hadn't been hearing much from Iowa. That changed recently, and he began looking more closely at the program.
"I know that they have a great fan base and culture and have a great pipeline to the NFL," he said.
Angeli (6-2, 205) is ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 13 pro-style quarterback nationally in the Class of '22 according to Rivals. 247Sports sees him as a three-star and No. 16 at his position.
"I think Iowa fits me great. They give a lot of responsibility to the QB and run a great style of offense that I feel like I can thrive in," he said.
The dead period that began last March as a result of the pandemic and is scheduled to run through April 15 has slowed down recruiting. Angeli did make it out to Notre Dame for a self-guided tour in December.
He's doing his best to create bonds with coaches and is hoping to do that with the Hawkeyes.
"I just want to continue to build the relationship," he said.
Angeli said he's still planning a schedule for upcoming visits and could make it out to Iowa.
"I’m still looking at making my decision during the spring or summer, depending on the dead period," he said.
Angeli expects to major in Business when he gets to college.
During a six-game season in the fall, Angeli completed 68 of 115 passes for 919 yards and nine touchdowns.
