Adarius Hayes might live half way across the country from the Iowa Football, but he understands the value of playing there. If he needs more information, he can ask his head coach at Largo (FL) High, Marcus Paschal, a Hawkeye alum.
Iowa extended a scholarship offer to the sophomore-to-be today. He also reported offers from Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Miami and Florida Atlantic after only one high school season.
While he has a lot of time left to make a college decision, Hayes appreciated his Iowa offer so early on.
"I was happy to get an offer from Iowa because it’s a huge opportunity," he told HN. "I heard it’s a nice program up there."
Largo alumnus Quavon Matthews is a redshirt freshman receiver for the Hawkeyes.
Hayes (6-4, 210) earned national first-team all-freshmen honors from Max Preps after averaging 8.3 tackles per game with two sacks and an interception last fall. Iowa liked what it saw.
"The coach was excited to watch my film and told me to keep up the good work," Hayes said.
He'd like to learn more about the Hawkeyes. It could come in-person.
"I would most likely visit Iowa to see what it is like up there," Hayes said.
