Iowa Football landed its fifth know verbal commitment in the 2022 recruiting class on Tuesday when Huxley (IA) Ballard High offensive lineman Kale Krogh announced his intentions.
Krogh (6-6, 267) earned a scholarship offer while camping with the Hawkeyes earlier this month. He spoke with HN about what the opportunity meant to him.
Iowa played host to Krogh on an unofficial visit last week, and he was due back for an official stop on June 25. He was scheduled to officially visit Minnesota this coming weekend.
Assistant Jay Niemann led Iowa's pursuit of Krogh. That bond played a big role in the final decision.
"I would say it's one of my best relationships in recruiting, especially with coach Niemann because he's called me since my freshman year. He'd call once a month and then into my sophomore year it'd be once or twice a week," Krogh told earlier this month.
Krogh joins Aaron Graves, Caden Crawford, Jack Dotzler and Jayden Montgomery as members of Iowa's '22 Class.
Rivals and 247Sports rank him as a three-star prospect and the No. 7 overall player in the state for '22. The latter sees him as the No. 71 offensive tackle nationally for that cycle.
A two-way lineman for the Bombers, Krogh racked up 45.5 tackles (41.0 solo, 5.0 for loss) last fall for a team that finished 8-2. During the basketball season, he averaged 7.3 points on 71.7 percent shooting from the field while pulling down 5.9 rebounds a contest.
Krogh also uncorked the track team's top discus throw this season. His top shot put toss ranked second on the squad.
Krogh reports 14 total scholarships offers, including numerous opportunities from Ivy League and MAC programs.
