It's fair to say Parker Friedrichsen broke out in July. The Class of 2023 Bixby (OK) High guard reported 10 new scholarship offers during the month, including some high majors.
Illinois, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech jumped in earlier last week. Iowa and Oklahoma came forward on Sunday.
The 6-foot-4, 165-pound sharpshooter, who runs with the Tulsa Hawks on the AAU circuit, was pleased with the Hawkeye opportunity.
"Coach (Fran) McCaffery likes how I'm a complete player, my frame, and how I can create shots and get others involved," Friedrichsen told HN. "I feel like I could fit there because they play fast and shoot a lot of threes."
With the offer in hand, Friedrichsen will begin researching Iowa Basketball and the university. He likes what he's hearing so far.
"I don't know that much, but I do know they are a solid program in the Big Ten that gets quality wins every year," he said.
Friedrichsen intends to look closer soon.
"As of now, I plan to visit Iowa in the fall for a football game. I want to learn more about the campus, the city, the education and the traditions," he said.
It's too early in the process for Friedrichsen to separate the programs interested in him.
"As of the now, the schools that are standing out are the schools that saw me in July and believe in me to make an impact at their school," he said.
Iowa showed it was in that group in Sunday.
