IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa continues solidifying itself as Tight End U. Former Hawkeye George Kittle is coming off a historic season with the San Francisco 49ers. T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant are entering the league as the first teammates at the position ever to be picked in the first round of the same NFL Draft.

Former Iowa tight end Brandon Myers feels like that trio has raised Iowa’s profile at the spot. Even he is amazed at their high level of talent.

Hawkeye fans old enough to remember understand Myers’ contributions to the program’s tight end lineage. His catches in the 2008 upset of Penn State at Kinnick Stadium rank up there with some of the most clutch during the coach Kirk Ferentz Era.

Myers, who played at small-school Iowa, Prairie City-Monroe High and grew up on a farm, grabbed a Hawkeye scholarship late in the process and wrestled with his decision to decommit from Northern Iowa to accept it. After a successful run in Iowa City, he played eight seasons in the NFL.
