Arden Walker likes what he’s hearing about Iowa. He has a man on the inside telling providing the scoop.

Hawkeye freshman quarterback Alex Padilla prepped at Greenwood Village (CO) Cherry Creek High, where Walker is a Class of 2021 defensive end. The program fits Walker’s mindset.

“Based on the talks with Alex and the tradition of the school, I really like the work ethic side I see there. That’s something that stood out to me as I see things on social media,” Walker told HN.

Iowa offered Walker (6-4, 250) a scholarship in October. He also reported opportunities from Boston College, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, Oregon State, Washington State, Wisconsin and others.

“I have a decent relationship with the Iowa coaching staff. I speak with Coach (Kelvin) Bell often. Based on phone calls, coach Bell seems to be very stern and he wants to get it all out of his players. From the moment he offered me, he wanted me to understand what it meant to be a Hawkeye,” Walker said.

The coronavirus pandemic has shut down face-to-face recruiting through the end of May.

“Iowa has definitely been a place I want to visit since the fall. Only time will tell when that might be, to be honest. I would look to see if I could potentially see myself at the university and observe coaching style and see how I like them,” he said.

Walker also would like to visit Boston College and Texas as well as make another stop at Oklahoma. The Sooners still are evaluating him.

“The most important thing in choosing a school is education,” said Walker, who plans on majoring in Business with a minor in Communications. “In terms of football, I’m looking for the team chemistry and interaction with student body. That’s very big to me.”

Rivals and 247 ranks Walker as a three-star prospect. The former sees him as the 38th best strong-side defensive end nationally in his recruiting cycle.

Walker earned first-team all-state honors last fall.
