Florida LB Yahweh Jeudy Reviews Iowa Official, Talks Final Decision

You can’t blame Yahweh Jeudy for not knowing what to expect during his first trip to Iowa. The South Florida linebacker lives half a country away.

He fell victim to the stereotypes about the Hawkeye State and was pleasantly surprised by what he saw. He thoroughly enjoyed his official visit this weekend.

“What stood out was their amenities. I didn’t think there was that much in Iowa. It’s more than cornfields,” he told HN.

Jeudy (6-2, 215) remains verbally committed to Kansas State, which is replacing longtime head coach Bill Snyder, who’s retiring, with North Dakota State’s Chris Klieman. The Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons standout is heading back to Florida Sunday, discussing things with his family, and deciding between the Wildcats and Iowa. He plans on signing during the early period, which runs Wednesday through Friday.

The Hawkeyes did well in making their pitch to Jeudy.

“I got to speak with the head coach (Kirk Ferentz), one-on-one, with my family alongside. Some other recruits and I ate dinner at coach Ferentz’s house. I got to go out with my host and experience the night life. Djimon Colbert took good care of me, showed me around and answered my questions. Djimon was awesome,” he said.

Iowa sees Jeudy as an inside linebacker.

“The Iowa defense is solid. They’re efficient and productive. There’s notable alumni all across the board,” he said.

Jeudy is building a strong relationship with position coach Seth Wallace. He’s connecting very well with defensive coordinator Phil Parker.

“Coach Phil Parker is my man. He’s a very good person. Coach (Kelton) Copeland is another great gentleman, but Phil is the man,” Jeudy said.

He also spent time learning about the school and what it offers him. He’s looking to major in Marketing.

“I was able to go the Gerdin Academic Center and speak with some academic advisors,” he said.

Jeudy’s senior highlights are not yet posted on his Hudl page. Here’s a look at his junior highlights:
