Hawkeyes Make the Cut with Xavier Foster

Eyes of basketball fans around the state have been focused on Oskaloosa the last several days. They were awaiting news on the recruitment of Indians 2020 big man Xavier Foster.

It arrived on Monday afternoon when he announced his cut his impressive list if prospective schools to five. Iowa and Iowa State made the cut along with Baylor, Providence and Virginia Tech.

Foster (7-0, 225) also reported scholarship offers from Creighton, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC and others. He has not announced when he will commit.

Foster has been feeling some pressure from the recruiting process, so it made sense that he would want to narrow his focus on this quintet of schools.

Oskaloosa won the Class 3A state championship last winter. Foster averaged 14.4 points, 11.8 rebounds and 6.2 blocks as a junior.

Rivals ranks Foster as the No. 40 overall player nationally in the ’20 recruiting class, while 247 puts him at 42.
