Reames (6-7, 220) has visited Iowa multiple times for games this fall. He also reported offers from Army, Cornell, Eastern Michigan and Illinois State.

The Hawkeyes worked Reames out during camp this summer and he showed them promise. The coaches then continued to monitor his progress this season.

Reames has helped the Bulldogs to a 10-0 record and a Class 1A state quarterfinal matchup with West Branch on Friday. He’s recorded 36.5 tackles, six of which have resulted in lost yardage. He also sacked the quarterback twice and recovered a fumble. As a tight end, he caught two passes for 33 yards and two scores.

He became the fifth in-state pledge in the recruiting cycle, joining Ezra Miller (Holstein), Tyler Endres Norwalk), Noah Fenske (New Hampton) and Jack Campbell (Cedar Falls). He’s the third member of the class projected to play defense end. Wisconsin’s Jake Karchinski and Jalen Hunt of Michigan were the others.

Reames is built like current Hawkeye defensive end Anthony Nelson when he was coming out of Waukee (IA) High. He’ll need some time in the Iowa strength and conditioning program to get the most out of his skill set of being long and athletic.
