Iowa lost to Wisconsin in a Big Ten West battle Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes did, however, beat their rivals in the pursuit of Dunlap (IL) tight end Josiah Miamen a day later.

“The importance of the tight end to their offense was huge for me,” Miamen told HN shortly after announcing his pledge Sunday night.

Miamen officially visited Iowa two weeks ago. He did the same to Wisconsin last week. Then, he chose the Hawkeyes.

After his official visit to Iowa, Miamen spoke with HN about how much he liked what he saw and heard. He also indicated that he’d be making a decision soon after his trip to Wisconsin.

Sunday night, Miamen called Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz and his son, Brian Ferentz, the team’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach to deliver the good news.

“Their reactions were just that they were excited and happy to have me join the family,” he said.
