This weekend, Brody Brecht begins a string of visits in search of his future home. The Class of 2021 receiver from Ankeny (IA) High has the Hawkeyes in those plans.

Nebraska is playing host to Brecht (6-4, 195) this weekend. He’ll be at Kansas on Jan. 25, Iowa the day after that and Iowa State on Feb. 1.

That quartet of Power 5 programs has offered scholarships to Brecht. He added an opportunity from Kansas State on Thursday.

“The schools that are standing out the most for me are the ones I have visits set for. They’re all recruiting me pretty good,” he told HN.

The Hawkeyes presented Brecht with a scholarship offer in June. He attended two games in the fall.

“Things are going very well with Iowa,” he said. “I’m feeling good about what they have going on. I have a very strong relationships with coach (Jay) Neimann and coach (Kelton) Copeland because I talk to them the most. They’re checking in weekly. I also talk with both Kirk and Brian (Ferentz) once in a while.

“The program is very successful, especially after coming off a big bowl win.”

After more research and building relationships, Brecht hopes to commit somewhere this summer.

“I’m just trying to find the best fit for me and a place that feels like home. I’ll know when I’ve found the right school when I just get that feeling that this is it,” he said.

While academics will play a key role in his decision, Brecht is unsure what his college major will be.

Rivals and 247 see Brecht as a three-star recruit. The latter rates him as the No. 62 receiver nationally in ’21, while the former puts him sixty fifth.
