Xavier, Minnesota, Maryland, Iowa, Oregon and Ole Miss all reportedly offered the Chicago Heights (IL) Bloom Township High and Young & Reckless AAU big man a scholarship since July 23. Rutgers offered in May, and he visited there in June.

The Hawkeyes picked up a verbal commitment from Chicago Heights Marion Catholic guard Ahron Ulis on Tuesday. He could end up recruiting Mitchell to join him in Iowa City.

“I know Ahron because I played with him my three years of junior high. We’re still good friends,” Mitchell said.

The quick rise up the recruiting ladder has led Mitchell to researching schools interested in him and deciding which ones to visit. He has not yet set up any trips.
