Photo Gallery: Recapping Hawkeye Recruiting Weekend at Kinnick

IOWA CITY, Iowa – On a beautiful late-summer day at historic Kinnick Stadium, Iowa football and basketball welcomed in a large group of recruits Saturday. They watched the Hawkeyes squash Rutgers, 30-0, on the gridiron.

Some notes…

-Class of 2021 defensive end TJ Bollers made his first visit of the season. The Tiffin (IA) Clear Creek Amana standout is the son of former Hawkeye fullback Trevor Bollers. He holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Cal, Florida, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Washington and Wisconsin. More are coming.

-’21 Ankeny receiver Brody Brecht visited Iowa for its July tailgater and was back in town on Saturday. He’s a priority for the Hawkeyes and Iowa State, both of whom have offered.

-Cyclone verbal commitment Zach Twedt took in Saturday’s game after visiting Iowa for its tailgate. The ’21 athlete from Story City (IA) Roland-Story has stopped here three times in the last four months.

-West Branch defensive end Jeff Bowie showed up at Kinnick for the second time in as many weeks. The ’21 standout holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

-A pair of ’20 Northern Illinois verbal pledges were in the house. Urbandale all-purpose running back Harrison Waylee chose the Huskies ahead of offers from UNI, South Dakota State and Western Illinois. He was joined by Pleasant Hill (IA) Southeast Polk offensive lineman Jack Wilty.

-’21 Iowa City West quarterback Marcus Morgan returned to Kinnick. The son of former Hawkeye hooper Michael Morgan holds am Iowa baseball offer and a football offer from Iowa State.

-’22 Aurora (IL) Christian CB/RB Josh Dornink visited Iowa back in the spring. He returned on Saturday.

-Iowa verbal commitments in the next two classes also showed up. Seniors Gavin Williams (Dowling), Josh Volk (Xavier) and Ethan Hurkett (Xavier) were in town as was junior Connor Colby (Kennedy).

-On the basketball side, the Hawkeyes welcomed a key target in the ’20 cycle. Omaha (NE) Millard North power forward Max Murrell visited after picking up an Iowa offer in Late June. He also reports offers from Creighton, Drake, Indiana State, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Stanford, TCU, Virginia Tech and others.

-Omama Biliew hasn’t played a high school game yet, but he already holds an Iowa offer. The class of ’23 forward from West Des Moines (IA) Dowling Catholic was joined on Saturday’s visit by prep teammate Ruot Bijiek, a ’22 forward.

-Class of ’20 Iowa verbal pledge Ahron Ulis also spent the weekend at Iowa. The Chicago Heights (IL) Marian Catholic guard announced he was a Hawkeye last month after picking up an offer earlier this summer.
